The Lant Charity was originally constituted on 4 June 1935 and has been supporting the communities of Balsall Common, Berkswell and Temple Balsall for over 85 years. We have recently registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation so we can continue to support our local communities.
We own the sports facilities' land which is home to the Berkswell and Balsall Common Sports and Community Association in Meeting House Lane, Balsall Common and the Reading Room in Berkswell and our role is to maintain and provide these recreational spaces and other open spaces for the people who live in these and the surrounding areas.
We support local people on very low incomes with financial grants in a wide variety of circumstances, some of which are on a continuing basis such as those on housing benefit living in local alms houses.
We also provide financial assistance towards the cost of erecting and maintaining any new or existing church or parsonage of the Church of England in Balsall Common, Berkswell and Temple Balsall.
We can have up to nine trustees and our current trustees are:
Godfrey Chesshire
Penny Downing (Chair)
Dinah Edwards
Kay Howles
Diana Jagger
Kate Riemer
and the clerk is Sharon Tuersley (clerk.lantcharity@gmail.com)
